So much to catch up on now that we’ve returned from N. Yorkshire! Really enjoyed reading about Bristol and your college days there – what an evocative return visit (rather like our visit to Fountains Abbey last Tuesday after a 30 year absence: if the stones could talk……) The Orange ‘tree’ was interesting! If it’s anything like Vodafone (my former employer!!) it should look like a telegraph pole (complete with dummy metal ‘steps’ at the top). Vodafone also do dummy trees which look rather like Scotch pines and which realistically shed their foliage (someone didn’t do their research, did they? Aren’t conifers non-deciduous?) in addition to dummy ‘dead’ trees with owl size holes in the fibre glass in order to let the microwave beam fire off to the A end of the link! Fascinating but useless information………………. Look forward to reading more of your progress towards the West Midlands - keep up the good work. Will remember you at our Pentecost service tomorrow. Now, let’s see if this will successfully post since it has signally failed to do so over the last week or so…….. Take care.
I'm a 46 year old husband, father of two and vicar in the parish of Oadby, Leicestershire. Between Easter and Pentecost in 2009 I walked home from Paris to Oadby - a peculiar kind of pilgrimage.
Buy the book!
Walking Home is now available as a 282 page book, in print and digital download.
Walking Home 2009
The route was 540 miles, from Paris where Jennifer and I honeymooned in 1986, to Oadby where I live and work today. It's a bit wiggly because friends, family, significant places and affordable accomodation don't fall on a straight line. Click here for a larger view.
What a tranquil place to be. Take care in this scorching weather but don't join the swans!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoying your blog, good luck for the homeward trek.
