Good to catch up with your latest bulletins – what lovely countryside you have walked through. It must have felt strange crossing the Fosse and knowing that it leads back to Leicester? Yes, viciously fast is about right – we have travelled down it towards Bath on a Friday evening and the antics of drivers (and caravanners) have to be seen to be believed. Have they never heard of blind bends and the inadvisability of overtaking on them…….? Glad that the text from Jeremiah has been part of your walk – it is, in liturgical terms, a belter. And, reflecting on the miles which you have covered so far, what an achievement! Well done, I wonder if Paris seems like a lifetime ago – such a range of experiences and memories since then. More to come, too, and some more wonderful countryside through which to amble. Might have to rename you ‘Rambling Sid Rumpold’ (with apologies to ‘Round the Horne’) Interesting to read your recollections of the selection process you underwent and I can assure you that you have learned your lesson well – the selection day at Launde was a piece of cake (relatively speaking…………!) We are visiting Thirsk next week so the posts may decline (must learn how to Twitter from a mobile) but we’ll keep in touch until Monday. Have a great weekend and trust that your morning is as beautiful as the one here in Oadby. Go careful.
The more we read of your journey the more we see you walking with the Lord by your side. Your choice of path is surely Spirit led, plus you are able to see the beauty of our countryside that we miss when we drive. Many more blessings as you continue your walk home. C&G
I'm a 46 year old husband, father of two and vicar in the parish of Oadby, Leicestershire. Between Easter and Pentecost in 2009 I walked home from Paris to Oadby - a peculiar kind of pilgrimage.

Walking Home 2009
The route was 540 miles, from Paris where Jennifer and I honeymooned in 1986, to Oadby where I live and work today. It's a bit wiggly because friends, family, significant places and affordable accomodation don't fall on a straight line. Click here for a larger view.
