  1. Hi Simon
sorry that we've missed catching up with you over the past few days and particularly sorry that we missed marking your birthday. It's tempting to write out the alternative 'happy birthday' song words which we found on a card years ago but it wouldn't be the same without the accompanying cartoons pictures. Let's give you a flavour of it and you can imagine the pictures: 'Hippo birdie two ewes, hippo birdie two ewes, hippo birdie deer ewe, hippo birdie two ewes' Dire, isn't it?! Anyway, many hippo returns! AAAGGGHHH..........And, yes, you do look very slim in your birthday photo (with the obligatory pint!)
With the end of your walk in sight are you up (as has been suggested) for an escort for the last mile or is it a case of 'I want to be alone' (apologies to Greta Garbo). Perhaps you could let us know and we'll make arrangements - a bowl of hot water for your feet will be available on your return (see John 13 only we're going one better by warming up the water. Ministry in keeping with the context, you see.....)
Have a good weekend - leading prayers tomorrow so we will remember you and yours.
    Love from all here.

  3. Hi Simon

what a lovely surprise to talk with you this morning and I'm sorry that we missed your latest radio broadcast (I was sweating, sorry, perspiring over the prayers at the time.....)
Hope that you've had a great day at your old church today and that it has brought back many fond memories (and not a few reflections on your life journey since coming to faith there all those years ago. You would never have guessed the circumstances of this latest visit, would you?)
The 'welcoming' committee (note the inverted commas!!!) are starting to come forward - it's all female thus far you old blade you. I warned them to bring some money and mentioned a dog-leg into the Black Dog - they didn't beleive me.....
Enjoy the next few days, especially as the Leicestershire border approaches. Yoiks, tally-ho!

  4. Hi Simon
Have you seen your photo in the Church Times? Possibly not as it's possibly not your first choice of reading matter at the moment.
I waved to you when I judged I was near to you on the M5 on Wed - am now back after work related travels over much of southern England.
All the best people are boirn in June.....
    Happy walking.
Glad the platypus has proved to be of use.
    Enjoy the Midlands
    Love
    Paula
